I took this picture after 3 coats of the milk paint.
White milk paint kitchen cabinets.
Repair these first with wood glue before sanding the veneered surface.
Milk painted upper cabinets cherry bases.
All of which are white with a butcher block top.
I wouldn t use general finishes milk paint along with the polyurethane.
I applied two coats of oil based polyurethane by brush.
Even though they have seen some wear and tear after a year and a half of use there is no yellowing.
This photo was taken after the kitchen had been in use for 12 years.
The ultimate test of milk paint you could say.
I hope that helps.
I was pretty.
As milk paint must be.
But because milk paint cracks flakes and distresses more easily it is ideally suited for farmhouse style kitchen cabinets and vintage furniture like antique dressers.
What happened when i didn t sand.
I was covering my 1960 s orange oak cabinets with snow white general finishes milk paint.
If your cabinets have a wood veneer essentially a very thin layer of real hardwood over a pressed material you will also need to sand before painting your kitchen cabinets but before you break out the sandpaper or paint carefully inspect the veneer for loose edges chips or cracks.
I was hoping it would help brighten up the room create a sense of calm for me and keep the space looking tidy and neat.
